2 March 2018 – CMS HQ held its first Clothes Donation Drive at its office at Wisma Mahmud, Kuching for employees to donate their clothes to charity. They came with their bundles of clothes to be weighed and sorted by our team of Coordinators.
The Coordinators’ task was to make sure that the clothes collected were clean and in wearable conditions. This meant sorting out the dirty, torn, button mission, broken zipper clothes from the wearable ones as items such as toys, handbags, pillow casings, towels and undergarments get mixed in as well.
The sorted clothes were donated to eight charities namely the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, Yakan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak, Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat, Lembaga Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Negeri Sarawak, Taiwan-Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, The Salvation Army and BEM Kuching Evangelical Church.
If you have old clothes stored in the wardrobe for a very long time, consider donating them. Find your local centre or organisation that collects used clothing. And try to resuse and repurpose the unwearable ones at home by using them as cleaning rag, rag rug/mat or pet bedding.
