Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS) and its employees are involved in awareness campaigns, corporate sponsorships and volunteering programmes within Sarawak. We are proud to participate in philanthropic efforts that include charitable giving, support for disaster relief efforts and many other means of support that benefits our communities.
On Friday, fire engulfed houses in Kampung Hilir and Kampung Datu in sibu, Leaving residents homeless and displaces as they lost everything in the fire. Responding to their dire need of help and financial assistance, CMS initiated a cash donation drive group-wide and raised in total RM3,703.20 (CMSB collected RM2,378, CMS Roads RM1,885, CMS Clinker RM792.20 and CMS Cement RM1,026).
The company matched the amount and a total of RM12,771 was handed over by CMS representative, Encik Kelana Kipli, CMS Roads’ Regional Manager (Central Region) on 1 August 2013.
Meanwhile, CMS Cement and CMS Concrete Products employees in Kuching and Bintulu also donated boxes of used clothing.
SJS Band was ranked first with 89.93 points with their Beethoven-inspired drill show entitled “Ode to Joy” in the German Open Championship at the Deutsche Musikfest (German Music Festival), held once every six years. The SJS band was invited to this prestigious music festival, from the 6 to 12 May 2013 in Chemnitz, Germany. The festival was the largest German Music Festival with 30,000 participants and attended by 120,000 visitors from all over Germany, Europe, United States, China and other parts of the world.
The team comprised of students aged between (11) and nineteen (19) years old from the three (3) SJS schools, namely SK St Joseph, SMK St Joseph and St Joseph’s Private School. With an event so huge, CMS generously sponsored RM10,000 for the band members’ windbreakers that bared the CMS logo.
Mooted in 2002 with a mission to assist the community in building family values, the idea is to assist a surau or mosque pay its monthly utility expenses. To-date, CMS looks after 65 surau and mosques, both in urban and rural areas throughout Sarawak.In 2013, CMS made a one-off total donation of RM117,000 spread amongst 65 suraus and mosques of which Kuching (23), Kota Samarahan (9), Sarikei (4), Bintangor (1), Sibu (10), Miri (10), Bintulu (11) and Betong (1) each received RM1,800 as CMS’ contribution to their monthly utility bills.
Majlis Ramah Tamah Tahun Baru Cina 2013
CMS Property and CMS Agrotech jointly participated in the ‘Majlis Ramah Tamah Tahun Baru Cina 2013’ organised by the Kuching South City Council in Kuching on February 24, 2013.
Sarawak’s Chief Minister, Y A B Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud who officiated at the function was full praise for Sarawak, especially the people of Kuching, who showed unity despite their different races. He said unity among the races was a great asset which reflected the people’s good nature.
Thousands from all walks of life who joined in the celebration were offered free oranges, cakes and drinks.
